Take a break from the rush
Every single day of your life, you have been running. Running to what? Have you stopped to check? Running from what? Have you looked behind? Rushing to work, finishing that last-minute presentation, picking up the groceries, vegetables, laundry, dropping off the kids to karate class, music classes, badminton lessons, calling up the electrician to fix the bathroom light, the plumber to check on that leaky tap, the list just goes on and on but does your day even end?
Well, if you have been feeling rushed, you should take a break. And why? Because you deserve it. You deserve a break from all that madness that surrounds you. The exhaustion and the stress from the daily grind will do more harm than good, and the sooner you understand that the sooner you will find peace.
Ready, Steady, Pause
On your quest for peace, here are some pointers to ponder on
- Is whatever you are doing really important? Prioritize the tasks that matter, the people who matter and what you want to achieve in life. Accept that you can’t do everything and if need be, knock off some things from your to-do list.
- Dedicate some ‘me-time.’ Yes, you need it. The most important person in your life is you. Take time to take care of yourself. Go get that spa, watch that movie, go on that hike.
- Slow down. Things around will continue to go on even if you don’t. Take your time. Enjoy all that you do, even if it is driving. Look out of your window to look at the beautiful flowers on the tree you pass by every day.
- Enjoy doing nothing. Just try it. There is immense pleasure in this too.
Live in the present
It is not easy to not think about the future, but at the same time, do not let go of the present anticipating the future. Enjoy every small moment, every small win, every little accomplishment. Enjoy life now. Don’t save it for later.
